Redd Ranches (~Canyonlands)

Had an awesome stay at my family’s ranch in La Sal, Utah. Hadn’t been there in 15+ years. Heaps of photos with captions below

  1. Monument Valley - Theo matching the famous Forrest Gump running scene spot on

  1. My Great Uncle Hardy showing us a hole he blasted in the rock 60+ years ago to create a space for cowboys to calve heifers. Now it’s a massage parlor for some glamping resort

  1. Paradox Valley - tiny ranch town with epic surrounding geology

  1. Hardy introduced us to the head geologist of an active uranium mine and we were able to dive in. Went about 600 feet underground! There are 26 miles of tunnels down there. The yellow rock is uranium ☢️

  1. Stayed with my cousin Matt and his wife Kristen at their house at Dugout Ranch. The ranch is within Bears Ears National Monument, owned by The Nature Conservancy and home to the Canyonlands Research Center. The surroundings are absolutely stunning. Kristen show us some of the cool hydrology/geomorphology research they are doing in Indian Creek…right up my alley

  1. Climbers at Supercrack Buttress along Indian Creek. Didn’t realize this spot is internationally known in the climbing community. Only a mile or two from Dugout Ranch
